Toxic Psychiatry Update--Laura's Law and the Right to Determine Your Own Medication

Laura's Law is is a California state statute that allows for court-ordered outpatient commitment of mental health clients who refuse voluntary treatment with psychotropic medications. At 9:30 advocate and activist Kathie Zetlin will discuss forced drugging, the situation in Berkeley and around the state, and upcoming struggles against toxic psychiatry.

She is an attorney MSW, a former mental health paients rights advocate and social worker with seniors, CPS, and persons residing in boards and care homes. She has developed workshops on informed consent and the rights of mental health patients. She specializes in attempting to assure people get services without giving up civil rights. She describes herself as "passionate and pissed off" on issues of informed consent and disclosure.

At 10 AM Jim Gottstein, Alaska attorney, civil rights attorney, and founder of psychrights.org will come on the air with Berkeley attorney, writer, and shock survivor Ted Chabasinski.

Ted received electroshock at the age of six, and spent 10 years of his youth locked up inside a state psychiatric institution. He became a psychiatric survivor movement leader in 1971, and later became an attorney. He has served on the board of MindFreedom International for several years.
